Platters are the awkward pieces: too wide for a cabinet shelf, too flat for a box built around plates. This chest is cut to their shape at 19 inches wide, 15 long, and 5 high, with a lid that comes off completely so a board can be laid in flat.
A window set into the front of the hard-sided shell shows whether the platters, the trays, or the charcuterie boards are inside, so the right box comes down from the shelf the first time. That saves unpacking a stack of serving pieces simply to confirm which chest holds what.
The lid comes away completely rather than hinging at the back, which leaves the full 19 by 15 inch opening clear. A wide platter can then be lowered in flat and lifted out the same way, with no tilting through a partial gap and no edge catching on a lid still attached.
At 5 inches high the chest is deliberately shallow, built around the shape of flat serving ware instead of stacked plates. Platters, trays, and boards lie in layers, and the riveted handles let the whole set travel to a gathering and back rather than being carried out piece by piece.
Six-piece black magnet set of four hinges and two handles that gives a steel garage door carriage-house detailing.
Six forest green fabric cubes with grommet pulls, each 11 inches square for standard cube shelving.
