The jumbo size in graphite gray: 19 inches long, 16 wide, 10 high, two to the set. Poly-cotton canvas over cardboard reinforcement keeps the walls upright under blankets, and the lid closes the top so a box living in a spare room collects dust on the outside instead of the contents.
Graphite is dark without being black, which keeps a 19 inch box from looking like a void on a shelf in a traditional room. On a pair of boxes that size, color does real work: the footprint is large enough that a bright or printed fabric would dominate the closet. Matte canvas and a single tone let the shelf read as one surface.
Blankets are the load this size was drawn for, and they are also the load that suffers in a sealed container. Poly-cotton canvas passes air through the walls, so wool and cotton stored over a summer do not come out with the closed smell a plastic lid traps. The 10 inch depth keeps a stack of two or three from compressing at the bottom.
Both boxes collapse once the cardboard inserts come out, which is the part a rigid tote cannot do. Off-season that means two 19 inch boxes take up the thickness of their own fabric on a shelf rather than holding full volume empty. Putting them back together is a matter of dropping the panels into the walls and the base, lid last.
Six-piece black magnet set of four hinges and two handles that gives a steel garage door carriage-house detailing.
Six forest green fabric cubes with grommet pulls, each 11 inches square for standard cube shelving.
