Light brown fabric keeps these two cubes closer to a furniture tone than a storage tone, which is the point in a farmhouse or contemporary room where shelving stays in the open. Each measures 11.4 inches square and 11 inches high, with a lid on top and a grommet handle in front.
The textured linen look in a soft brown picks up the tones of oak, rattan, and leather already in a room, so a pair on a bookshelf reads as part of the scheme. Thick fabric over fiberboard gives the surface enough body that the sides do not pucker where the handle takes the strain.
Each box starts flat and goes together by opening the walls and seating the base, a step that takes seconds and no tools. That same base lifts out when the cube is finished with, letting the whole thing fold down for storage, which is why a set of two does not become two permanent objects.
With the lids on, shoes, folded clothing, and office supplies sit covered rather than on display, useful on an open shelf or under a bed where dust settles fastest. Taking the lids off turns both boxes into open bins for things in weekly rotation, so one pair covers two different storage habits.
Six-piece black magnet set of four hinges and two handles that gives a steel garage door carriage-house detailing.
Six forest green fabric cubes with grommet pulls, each 11 inches square for standard cube shelving.
