Scalloped edges give these two square trays a decorative outline that a plain rim would not, so they serve as surfaces for drinks and as a way to corral small things on a console. The larger runs 13.5 inches across the sides, the smaller 10.5 inches.
The scalloped rim curves in and out around the square outline, a detail hand-worked into the hyacinth rather than applied as trim. It softens the geometry enough that a tray reads as decor on an empty coffee table and still frames whatever gets set on it when something needs serving.
The pair covers two different jobs: the 13.5 inch tray with 4.5 inch sides takes a full round of glasses or a cluster of candles, while the 10.5 inch tray with 4 inch walls handles keys, remotes, or a stack of coasters on a side table.
Handwoven water hyacinth brings the plant-fiber texture that coastal, bohemian, and rustic schemes are built around, warming a room that runs heavy on painted surfaces and glass. Tone shifts slightly between the two trays because the material is natural, which keeps the set from looking machine-matched on a shelf.
