A hinged lid is the difference between storage that stays open and storage that closes without a separate piece to put somewhere. This small basket measures 11.75 by 6.25 inches with a height of 6.75 inches, woven in grey paper rope over a sturdy wire frame.
The lid is hinged at the back, so it flips up and stays with the basket rather than being lifted off and parked on a counter. One hand opens it, which suits a container that lives on a vanity or a desk and gets opened several times a day.
A sturdy wire frame runs inside the weave, holding the rectangle square and keeping the lid lined up with the opening after hundreds of closings. Paper rope over that skeleton keeps the piece light while giving it the look of handwoven wicker rather than molded plastic or coated steel.
At 6.25 inches deep the basket fits the shallow band at the back of a vanity, a bathroom shelf, or a desk edge without pushing into the working area. Grey keeps it quiet beside white tile and pale cabinetry, and the lid hides cotton rounds, cables, or small tools from view.
