Two fibers go into this one, water hyacinth and seagrass together, which gives the weave more variation than a single-material basket. The shape is wide and low: 15.75 inches across the mouth with walls only 8 inches high, and oversized handles at either side.
Mixing the two fibers produces a surface with shifting tone and texture across the same basket, warmer where the hyacinth runs and cooler through the seagrass. Because both are handwoven natural materials, no two baskets match exactly, and the variation registers as craft rather than inconsistency.
A 15.75 inch opening over 8 inches of depth favors spread rather than stacking, so folded blankets lie flat, magazines stay readable, and nothing sinks out of reach at the bottom. That proportion also makes the basket easy to look into from standing height, which a deep round does not allow.
Oversized handles on either side carry the weight when the basket moves between a living room floor and a closet shelf, and the low profile keeps the contents in place during the trip. Left where they are, the same handles break up the round silhouette and give the weave a visual anchor.
