A single black stripe runs around the body of this handwoven paper rope basket, enough of a mark to keep it from being one more plain natural round. The shape measures 11.75 inches across and stands 9.75 inches high, with side handles for moving it loaded.
The stripe is worked into the rope rather than printed on top, so it stays part of the surface as the basket gets handled. Against the natural ground it gives the piece a focal line, which helps a round basket sit beside black fixtures, dark frames, or a charcoal rug without looking accidental.
Handles at both sides let the basket be lifted square with both hands, which matters when 9.75 inches of depth is filled with rolled towels or folded throws. Carrying a woven body by the rim alone tends to pull it out of shape over time, and side grips avoid that.
Paper rope in a natural tone adds texture and warmth where a plastic bin reads as equipment, which is why the same basket works on a bathroom floor, beside a bed, under a desk, or on a living room shelf. Color and texture vary between handwoven pieces.
