Natural corn leaf with black accent banding gives this pair more definition than an undyed basket, and a thin plastic layer lines both, which opens up uses that bare fiber would not take. The larger basket measures 17.25 inches wide and stands 13 inches high.
A thin plastic layer covers the interior wall of each basket, a barrier between the fiber and whatever goes inside it. That layer is what makes these workable for a potted plant with its saucer, rolled damp towels, or pantry goods that would otherwise sift out through open basketry.
Dark banding worked into the corn leaf breaks up the pale ground, giving the baskets a graphic edge that holds up in a room with black hardware or dark picture frames. Color and texture vary across handwoven fibers, so the two pieces in the set are close rather than identical.
With the large basket at 13.75 by 17.25 by 13 inches and a smaller companion alongside, the pair can be split between rooms: one in a bathroom for towels, the other in an office for cords and paper, or both grouped on a living room shelf as a matched set.
