Twenty-seven inches long and nearly 16 high, this woven chest works as a bench-height box at the foot of a bed or along a living room wall. Brown paper rope covers a metal frame, the lid and base stay attached, and rubber feet keep the weave off the floor.
Both the base and the lid stay fixed to the body rather than lifting away as loose parts, which adds stability to a collapsible chest and removes the problem of a lid stored somewhere separate. Unfolding is the whole setup: open the frame, fill it, and close the top over the contents.
Small rubber feet hold the woven base clear of the floor, so hardwood and tile stay unmarked when a loaded chest gets pushed back against a wall. That clearance also keeps the paper rope away from the damp left by a mopped floor, which matters in a bathroom as much as a bedroom.
Brown paper rope wrapped over a metal frame gives the look of basketry with a structure that holds 27 by 16.9 inches of footprint square under load. The chest stays light enough to carry between rooms, so one piece can serve a bedroom for a season and a living room after that.
