Four inches of height is the whole idea: this rectangular basket slides onto a shallow shelf, into the cabinet above a toilet, or along a narrow ledge where a deep container simply will not go. Paper rope is woven over the full 15.75 inch length.
With sides only 4 inches tall and a 6 inch depth, the basket holds a single layer rather than a pile, which keeps everything inside visible without digging. Rolled toilet paper, canned goods, dry packets, or the loose odds and ends on an entry ledge all sit in one readable row.
Black keeps the basket from announcing itself, acting as a neutral that works in minimalist and eclectic rooms alike and hiding the dust that shows on pale fiber. Paper rope also makes the body sturdy while staying light, so a loaded basket comes down from a high shelf one-handed.
The 15.75 inch length runs with the grain of a shelf rather than across it, filling a strip that round baskets leave half empty at the corners. Left on display it reads as a decorative accent, which is useful in a bathroom or living room where the storage has nowhere to hide.
