Water hyacinth woven by hand gives these two oval baskets a texture closer to furniture than storage, with natural wood handles set into the rims and cotton lining inside. The larger stands 22 inches tall; the smaller measures 21.5 and slides into it when neither is in use.
Each basket is woven by hand from water hyacinth, so the weave varies slightly across the two and the surface carries the irregularity of a natural fiber. Natural wood handles are fixed at the sides for lifting, and the cotton lining inside keeps the woven wall from catching on knitwear or hosiery.
When only one basket is needed, the 14 by 12 inch body of the smaller slips inside the 16.25 by 13 inch footprint of the larger, which turns two pieces into one occupied corner. That nesting also helps between seasons, when a second hamper is stored rather than standing empty in a hallway.
Neither basket announces laundry, so the pair works just as well holding blankets beside a sofa, toys in a playroom, or rolled towels in a bathroom. The cozy natural tone suits bedrooms and living rooms where storage stays in plain view, and two sizes let the contents be split by bulk.
