Nine inches is the whole point of this one. Lower than any side table, the 16-inch woven resin barrel sits at footrest height, which makes it the piece to pull toward a chair at the end of a day rather than the one holding a lamp across the room.
A height of 9 inches puts the top at the level a seated person actually wants their feet, lower than an ottoman and well below a drum table. That same low profile lets the barrel slide under a bench or a console between uses, where a taller piece would have to stay in the open.
Sixteen inches of diameter gives enough surface for both feet, a book and a mug, or a cluster of candles, depending on the day. Handwoven resin over a metal frame takes that weight, and the textured weave adds warmth in a boho or contemporary room where hard surfaces dominate.
Because resin handles contact and moisture better than natural fiber, the barrel moves between a patio, a bedroom corner, and a living room floor without special treatment. In any of those spots it can stop being furniture and become a decorative basket for throws, which is the fallback when seating is not needed.
