A long line needs a pulley to be worth having, otherwise every garment means a walk. This one measures 6 inches tall and 6 wide with a frame just 1.25 inches thick, holding the lines apart so they feed without tangling as laundry is pulled within reach.
The metal frame is zinc plated, a coating aimed at the one problem an outdoor pulley has: standing in rain and sun for years. Rust is what seizes a wheel and frays a line, so the plating is doing structural work rather than decorating the hardware holding up a wash.
The wheel itself is polypropylene with UV protection, which keeps the plastic from going brittle under direct sun the way an untreated part would. It turns light, so a loaded line moves with a pull rather than a heave, and the material adds almost nothing to the weight the posts carry.
With a pulley at each end, a line becomes a loop: hang a sheet, pull, and the next clear span arrives at the same spot. That saves the walking and the carrying that a fixed line demands, and it keeps air drying practical on a long run between two posts.
