Covers wear out long before boards do. Both layers get replaced in one go here: a cotton cover printed in multicolor stripes and a 6 mm fiber pad underneath it, cut at 58.5 by 18 inches to wrap standard boards measuring 13 to 15 inches wide.
The pad is 6 mm of fiber laid between the cover and the metal deck, thick enough to give a pressed seam somewhere to sink instead of printing the mesh pattern onto the fabric. Replacing a flattened pad along with the cover restores the feel of the board rather than just its appearance.
The set is cut for standard boards between 13 and 15 inches wide and 53 to 54 inches long, which covers most full-size frames. Measuring the existing deck before fitting is worth the minute, since a cover stretched over the wrong length pulls loose at the nose and bunches under the iron.
A storage pocket is sewn into the cover, somewhere to stow a cloth, a spray bottle, or the cord when the board folds flat against a wall. Multicolor stripes across the cotton face keep the board from looking like bare equipment, which matters when it stays out in a laundry room between sessions.
