Two bays instead of one, and the second changes the routine: darks on one side, lights on the other, decided as clothes come off rather than on a laundry room floor later. The frame runs 30 inches deep by 17 inches wide and stands 30 inches high in use.
Each bay holds a large removable polycotton bag, so a sorted wash leaves the bedroom already divided and each bag travels to the machine on its own. Both wash cold with like colors and air dry, which keeps the liners from becoming the grubbiest thing in the laundry room.
Running 30 inches deep on a 17-inch width, the sorter lines up end to end rather than side by side, a shape suited to a narrow closet, the strip beside a washer, or a wall where a wide cart would block the doorway. Collapsed, it stores as a flat panel.
The wooden frame is left unfinished and accepts stain or paint for a full match to existing furniture, and assembly needs no tools in either direction. Soft lids fold over both openings, so two bays of laundry stay out of sight in a bedroom that doubles as the sorting room.
Single large canvas tote, 22 inches wide, with a vinyl-coated interior and long reinforced handles that clear a shoulder.
Folding bamboo drying rack with 11 dowels and a flat shelf for sweaters, opening to 29.25 inches wide.
