Woven bamboo shelving gives this five-tier rack an airier look than solid wood and lets air move around damp soles. It stands 35.43 inches high and 28.74 inches wide, with a 3 inch gap under the bottom shelf for flats and other low-profile pairs.
Each of the five shelves is woven rather than solid, a pattern that leaves open gaps for air to pass through a row of shoes that came in wet. The weave also gives the rack a lighter visual weight, so a piece almost 29 inches wide does not read as a block in a narrow entry.
The bottom shelf sits 3 inches off the floor, and that gap is usable: sandals, flats, and slippers slide underneath, adding a sixth level without adding height. It also keeps the lowest shelf clear of a mop or a vacuum passing along the baseboard, where a floor-level rack usually collects dust.
