Each plank measures 3.5 by 13.375 inches and just 0.375 inch thick, thin enough to lie under folded shirts without stealing drawer depth. Tongue-and-groove edges let the five pieces link into one continuous panel, or be used separately when a drawer is narrower than the full set allows.
The long edges are milled so one plank slides into the next, forming a continuous cedar floor across the bottom of a dresser drawer. Because the connection is mechanical rather than glued, the set can be pulled apart and rebuilt at a different width whenever the liners move to another chest.
One face is sanded smooth and the other is milled, giving a choice of texture and, more usefully, a second surface to expose once the first has quieted down. Flipping a plank puts fresh grain in contact with the air inside the drawer without adding anything to the wood.
Aromatic oils stay in the wood; what fades is the exposed surface. A pass with sandpaper opens the grain again, and CedarFresh spray, sold separately, is the alternative for planks that have spent several seasons under sweaters and linens. Either way, the same five liners keep working season after season.
